Piper came home with us today and it's been nonstop action ever since! She was very wiggly in the car, but agreed to stay on my lap anyway. The backyard proved to be of enormous interest, and she wanted to sniff every square inch of it. We discovered how quickly she learns when David pulled up a weed, and she immediately went for the hole he had left and started digging and pulling weeds herself- she was most anxious to be of help!
Not crazy about her crate, but did settle in for a nap in a bed we had earlier bought for one of our cats. She made short work of an edible chewy treat, and David is convinced he's already taught her to sit. The water bowl was a source of fun, as she sort of dove into it with her paws - maybe there's a raccoon in her ancestry? Pywacket took it all in stride for the most part, but did try a playful swipe at Piper's nose.

This afternoon we took her for a walk, which went well at first, but after about a block she sat down in the shade of a tree as if to say "this is a far as I go". No amount of coaxing would get her to move, so we carried her home. A long puppy-nap followed, and I almost dozed off myself. Tonight will be interesting.
More later...M
